International/Inner City/Rural Preceptorship Program (I2CRP)
In special sessions arranged between Open Minds and I2CRP, residents at the jail dialog with med students from VCU's Medical College of Virginia about the ethics of medical research, communication, and trust between physicians and patients living in under-served communities.
The International/Inner City/Rural Preceptorship Program (I2CRP) is a four-year honors program for medical students at MCV who declare an interest in working with medically underserved populations. The program was established over 10 years ago to encourage students to become physicians in communities in need—communities struggling with poverty, low numbers of health providers, inadequate health insurance, language barriers, homelessness, and other factors.
